주간도 야간도 아닌 3시 30분 티오프 – 오너스CC 춘천 여름골프 (Owners Golf Club)

7월 중순 정말 오랜만에 춘천 오너스CC(공식명칭 오너스GC)에서 골프를 치고 왔어요. 예전에는 2018년에 다녀왔던 곳이라 거의 7년 만의 재방문이었습니다.

3시 30분 티오프, 늦은 오후 여름골프의 분위기

이날 주간도 아니고, 야간도 아닌 오후 3시 30분 티오프로 플레이했어요. 춘천쪽에 야간 골프장이 많이 없어서 그런가요? 아님 한여름이라 그런걸까요? 2부가 3시 후반까지 운영되었습니다. 하늘은 너무 청명했지만 날씨는 그야말로 ‘폭염’ 수준—전반 플레이(3시 반~6시)는 정말 더위와의 싸움이었습니다. '올해 여름은 유난히 더운 것 같은데 그래도 강원도, 춘천 골프는 좀 낫지 않을까?'하고 기대하고 갔지만… 얼음주머니에 크게 의존할 수 밖에 없었네요.

 
그런데 한여름 골프를 좀 겪다보면 느끼는건데 더운 날씨에 적응하는건 개인차가 있고 체질에 따라 어떤 분들은 이런 날씨에서 치는 것을 좋아하기도 합니다.
그럼 여름골프에서 가장 더운 시간은 언제일까요? 제가 느끼기에는 햇빛도 강하고 기온도 높은 10시반-1시반이 아닐까 생각하는데요. 저는 한여름에는 최대한 이 시간을 피해서 예약을 하고 있습니다.

 

전반전: 체력 소모, 그리고 무더위의 고비

이번 라운드는 동반자 한 분이 전반 중반부에 거의 실신 직전까지 가서 힘들어하는 해프닝도 있었습니다. 여름골프의 필수품인 얼음주머니도 안 가지고 오셨더라고요. 카트에는 선풍기도 달려 있었지만 초복날의 폭염에는 역부족이었습니다. 진작에 초복인 줄 알았으면 끝나고 춘천닭갈비를 먹을 걸 그랬네요.

 

후반전: 해가 기울며 다시 살아나는 기분!

다행히 해가 서서히 기울기 시작한 6시경 후반 라운드가 시작되자, 들끓던 무더위가 거짓말처럼 나아졌어요. 산속의 서늘한 바람의 효과인 걸까요? 예전에도 여름에 청평, 가평, 춘천쪽으로 놀러가면 저녁때는 덥지 않았던 것으로 기억합니다. 열기가 가시면서 모두 기력을 회복하고 후반전은 한층 쾌적하고 유쾌하게 플레이를 마칠 수 있었습니다.

 

오너스CC – 예전보다 훨씬 좋아진, 예쁜 춘천 골프장

오랜만에 찾은 오너스CC는 코스 관리부터 전반적 시설까지 예전보다 너무 좋아져서 깜짝 놀랐습니다.
코스는 산자락을 따라 만들어진 소나무 숲과 계곡, 적당한 업다운과 다양한 전장 덕분에 춘천 특유의 싱그러운 자연 미가 느껴져요.
춘천권 골프장들은 대체로 산지라 평지코스보다는 다소 난이도가 있으나, 오너스CC는 너무 어렵거나 까다롭단 느낌은 없었고 누구나 도전해볼만한 골프장이라는 생각이 들었습니다.

캐디님께 듣기로는 2019년쯤 소유주가 바뀐 이후 골프 인구가 급증한 코로나 시기를 거치고 관리가 꾸준히 되면서 훨씬 나아졌다고 하더라고요.

 

코스 특징 요약

페어웨이는 적당히 넓은데, 몇몇 홀은 도그렉 & 업다운으로 전략상 재미가 있습니다. 그린은 깔끔하게 관리가 되어있고, 언듈레이션도 적당한 것 같습니다.
경관은 소나무 숲, 산계곡이 너무 멋집니다. 난이도는 산악지 골프장 특유의 변화는 있지만 초보~중급 모두 도전 가능할 것 같아요.

 

주말 춘천골프 운전 꿀팁

참고로, 토요일 춘천 방향은 오전 시간대 고속도로 정체가 정말 심각합니다.
한여름엔 피서철까지 겹쳐서 아침 일찍 나서거나 최대한 오후 늦게 티오프를 잡으면 운전 스트레스가 크게 줄어요.

On July 20, 2025, I played a round at Owners CC in Chuncheon—my first visit back since 2018, so it had been almost seven years.

3:30pm Tee Off – Summer Golf Right Between Day and Night

This round wasn’t exactly a daytime or night game—it was a 3:30pm tee off, right in the middle. Perhaps there aren’t many night-course options around Chuncheon, or maybe it’s just the summer schedule, but the second wave of tee times stretched late into the afternoon. The sky was perfectly clear, but the weather was just sweltering—during the front nine (3:30–6:00pm) it felt like a constant struggle against the heat. With this summer being especially hot, I’d hoped Chuncheon (and Gangwon-do in general) might be a little cooler, but it turned out I had to rely heavily on my ice pack.
Having played in the middle of summer before, I’ve learned that everyone’s tolerance for the heat is a little different. Some golfers enjoy it; for the rest of us, it’s just something to endure! Personally, I find that the hottest time for summer golf is from about 10:30am to 1:30pm—so now I always book around those hours if possible.

Front Nine: Heat Exhaustion and the Peak of the Summer Sun

During the front nine, one of my playing partners nearly fainted from the extreme heat. (He forgot to bring an ice pack, which really is essential for summer rounds.) Even with a fan attached to the cart, nothing could compete with the “Chobok” heat. Looking back, if I’d realized it was the start of Korea’s hot summer days, maybe we would’ve planned for some Chuncheon dakgalbi to recover.

Back Nine: New Life as the Sun Goes Down

Thankfully, by the time we started the back nine at 6:00pm, the intense heat started to lift as the sun set. Maybe it was the cool mountain air, but just like I’ve experienced before in Cheongpyeong, Gapyeong, or Chuncheon—once the evening hits, even a midsummer round can turn pleasant. With the temperature dropping, everyone was revived, and we finished the round feeling refreshed and in good spirits.

Owners CC – A Much Improved, Beautiful Chuncheon Golf Experience

Returning to Owners CC after so long, I was honestly surprised at how much the course and facilities had improved. The layout weaves through pine forests and valleys, offering just the right amount of elevation changes and variety, perfectly capturing Chuncheon’s natural beauty.
Most Chuncheon golf courses are mountain tracks, so they can be challenging compared to flat courses, but Owners CC didn’t feel overly difficult or intimidating—playable for all.
Our caddie mentioned that the course changed ownership around 2019, and after the COVID golf boom, steady improvements have made everything noticeably better.

Course Highlights

• Fairways: Mostly wide, with a few holes offering doglegs and elevation changes for extra strategy.
• Greens: Well-maintained, with just enough undulation to keep things interesting.
• Scenery: Pine forests, mountain valleys, beautiful views all around.
• Difficulty: Typical mountain course variation, but approachable for both beginners and intermediates.

Weekend Driving Tip for Chuncheon Golf

For anyone heading to Chuncheon on the weekend: be warned, the Saturday morning highway traffic is seriously heavy. If you’re going in peak summer, it’s even more congested. I recommend either leaving very early or booking a late-afternoon tee time like I did—the stress-free drive makes a huge difference.
